Handel: Israel in Egypt

Within a tour of Europe’s major summer music festivals, the Monteverdi ensembles will give a special concert in London of one of Handel’s most colourful works. The descriptive choral writing is some of Handel’s most virtuosic, full of declamation and coloratura and concluding with the Israelites’ triumphant psalm of praise on their deliverance from Egypt. The plagues visited on the Egyptians are depicted with an unusually rich orchestral accompaniment which includes trumpets and trombones.

This will be a fundraising concert in aid of the Monteverdi ensembles and we are offering a limited number of special packages. All participating artists are donating their fee for this concert. Please give generously.
