    • The lyrics of this carol are by Sabine Baring Gould a nineteenth century vicar from Mersea Island in Essex (where I live.) He also wrote 'Onward Christian Soldiers'.

    • This is a beautiful carol, and I am happy to have found the original British lyrics at last, rather than American ones (though it should be "known" and not "know" in the second verse).
