  • I accompany silent movies on the piano (and do the sound effects, too, when possible), and when I discovered my grandmother's collection of early 20th century piano pieces, it was a delight! One of the first pieces I learned was "The Midnight Fire Alarm", much to the chagrin of my Mom, who wanted me to play exclusively classical music. It was as if she was embarrassed to admit that her Mom was not a classically-oriented pianist!
