About

This chorus is from Act 3, Number 58, "See the Conquering Hero Comes", which was adapted to form the well-known hymn "Thine be the Glory, Risen Conquering Son". The English words to the hymn are still under copyright in most jurisdictions, but the tune and harmonies are essentially the same as Handel's original, as found in this file.

The main tune is found in the Soprano 1 line and in the top line of the keyboard part.

About Judas Maccabaeus

Judas Maccabaeus is an oratorio in three acts composed in 1746 by George Frideric Handel based on a libretto written by Thomas Morell. The oratorio was devised as a compliment to the victorious Prince William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland upon his return from the Battle of Culloden. Other catalogues of Handel's music have referred to the work as HG xxii; and HHA 1/24.
